As the city’s southern extremes transform from houses and businesses to countryside, two country estates rise up in aristocratic defiance of the changes time has wrought. The Highlands Ranch Mansion has lost much its great estate, but nothing of its grandeur. Farther south, the Cherokee Castle still looks out on a land much unchanged, the mountains eternal in its gaze. From the ladies who made them famous to the pages of famous books, both stand as exemplaries on the Colorado stage. Let’s get our taste of royal life for a while from the ramparts of Colorado’s own castles!
