We continue our river adventure series, tracing waterways from their headwaters to their deltas. This year we are tackling a river so long and rich in history, we have to break it into two sections! Join Dr. Andrew Gulliford on this exciting trip tracing the northern Rio Grande River. Next year, we will tackle the southern section of the river. The adventure begins amidst the pristine wilderness of the San Juan Mountains, where the Rio Grande originates as a clear mountain stream. We’ll follow its winding course, carving its way through rugged canyons and verdant valleys, offering stunning panoramas at every turn. Along the route, delve into the rich cultural heritage of the region, from ancient Native American settlements to Spanish colonial influences. We’ll even get into some atomic history with an overnight stay in Los Alamos. From Creede to Taos, and Albuquerque to Las Cruces, we’ll see it all! It’s the final major river out of Colorado we’ll trace, so be sure you don’t miss it.
Starts at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Denver Downtown. Includes guide interpretation, coach transportation, one-way flight from El Paso, TX to Denver, CO*, six nights’ lodging, all entries and admissions and ten meals, including a Welcome Dinner.
