A Note from Kevin:
Many of you have traveled with my husband, Shawn Snow. He came to History Colorado, the state's historical society, in 2009. I was already in tourism at that time, and so when he expanded the Tours and Treks program, it made sense for me to help. As the program grew, I was there to help with the work. In 2018, he left History Colorado for Jacobs Engineering, a world-spanning engineering company. His project was on the redo of the National Western Stock Show area, the campus and all the land used by its many constituents. He did a phenomenal job (no surprise, for those of you who know him), and in December of 2023, he was asked to consider a project in Honolulu, working on their train system, like Denver's Light Rail. After some back and forth, Jacobs offered the position, and Shawn accepted. The position is a huge opportunity for Shawn and will open innumerable doors for his career. The main sticking point is that he HAS TO BE ON SITE. So, we decided that this was simply too good of an opportunity to miss, even though it means some changes for both of us, especially me. Shawn has supported me in my endeavors for these two decades, and I am happy to help in supporting his. Shawn is moving to Hawaii in February of 2024. I will remain in Denver so as to fulfill my already-planned tours, not just for Treasure Box Tours, but also for other groups. I will, of course, be winding down my participation, but I always fulfill my obligations. As I told Jo and Sharon over lunch one day, nothing is more important to me than being dependable. Shawn's project in Hawaii should last about five years. We might return to Denver or this project may lead to other projects elsewhere in the world. They already mentioned Dubai to him, which sounds massively exciting, though I suspect they wouldn't really want us to go once Shawn mentions he has a husband. For now, leaving Treasure Box Tours is a 100% unexpected change in my life, but it's a good change for Shawn, and I'm going to stand by my man. Isn't there a song about that? Aloha!
