This expertly guided tour is led by Dr. Andrew Gulliford and our wonderful train guru, Jack Wheeler, where they’ll take you to the iconic landmarks she designed or influenced, showcasing her masterful blend of Native American and Spanish Colonial styles. The adventure begins in Santa Fe, where Colter’s aesthetic influence can be seen in the city’s historic adobe structures. From there, we journey to Arizona, where we’ll explore her most famous works at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon—each offering a glimpse into her deep appreciation for indigenous craftsmanship and natural materials. We’ll visit other significant sites inspired by her unique approach to design, including stops along the historic Harvey House railroad route, where Colter’s architectural genius helped define the golden age of train travel in the West. All aboard!
